Battery Health

Estimate your EV battery's health and remaining range

Estimates battery state of health based on published EV degradation research. This is a planning estimate — real battery health depends on your specific charging history. For a precise reading use your EV's built-in diagnostics or an OBD2 scanner.

How the Battery Health estimator works

EV batteries lose capacity slowly over time and mileage. This estimator uses your vehicle's battery chemistry, model year, mileage and charging habits to project how much of the original capacity is likely to remain today and at 100,000 and 200,000 miles — a quick way to sanity-check a used EV or understand your own car's ageing.

Most modern packs retain 85–90% of their capacity after 100,000 miles. Lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) packs tolerate frequent 100% charges well, while nickel-based packs age more slowly when kept between roughly 20% and 80% for daily use. Frequent DC fast charging and heat accelerate wear; gentle Level 2 charging at home slows it.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate is the estimate?

It's a model based on published degradation studies and manufacturer warranty terms, not a reading from your car. For an exact figure, have a dealer or independent shop run a battery state-of-health test.

What does the battery warranty cover?

Most manufacturers guarantee at least 70% capacity for 8 years or 100,000 miles (some go to 10 years or 150,000 miles). If capacity falls below the threshold within that period, the pack is repaired or replaced.

Should I charge to 100%?

For LFP batteries, yes — manufacturers recommend it. For nickel-based (NMC/NCA) packs, charge to 80–90% for daily driving and go to 100% only before a long trip.
